Linocut process: start to finish
We bring Linocut Art!
Hello
At last after years of experimenting with different painting and printing techniques, I found a way to capture my creativity and render it in a way that makes me nod and smile.. And most people only know it from school art lessons!  So I have joined a growing band of linocut artists and hope you will appreciate how we can use this technique to make beautifully crafted images.

I am Fi Douglas and I put the Eff in EffDuglyArt

The art is original: My Lady Cuts Collection is a series of female nudes.. I take drawings from life studies and then design, develop and re-develop,  taking various influences, into a unique, lino-friendly rendition I'm finally happy with.

I painstakingly hand-carve the design into lino and then hand-press and pull with fine quality paper

 What is Linocut?

  • Linocut is a printmaking technique,  in which a sheet  of linoleum is used for the relief surface.
  • A design is  cut into the linoleum surface with a, V-shaped or U-shaped cutting tool, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed.
  • The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed  onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a press.
